"My inspiration for life as an artist, "Tony laughs" began when watching Mike the Architect on the Brady Bunch. I studied shading, light source, illustration, mechanical drawings, precision, skills I incorporate in my art today. KNUS-AM 710 - Paula Kungel

Artist Statement

I paint to fullfill the urge to draw. It started at childhood and seems to be getting stronger. I concentrate on portraits for the accuracy challenge, landscapes for it's beauty, and photography to use in and/or influence my landscapes.

All projects begin mentally, to help me prepare and know what to bring when I face the easel. I've learned to be patient, when to keep going and stop when I lose focus. The projected outcome inspires me. I'll know it's done when I'm afraid to keep going fearing I may ruin something.

My current goal is to paint more original fine art, specifically outdoor scenes with meaningful themes.

Artist Biography

My drawings began as a kid with dot-to-dots, stick figures and coloring books. I practiced free-hand drawing for years on images from books I read. In high school freshmen year, I entered an after school mechanical drawing program through my senior year preparing for an architectural career. But my time in the US Air Force led me to a B.S. Degree as an engineer in the computer field. However, I'm more pumped than ever in the art world--my emphasis is on Colorado that I love so much.

I've explored several mediums and my preferred are: acrylics and oils for landscapes; charcoals, oils and prisma pencils for portraits; prisma pencils for mechanical drawings; once in a while will add a touch of an airbrush."

My photography began while taking pictures of portrait clients. I studied aperature, shutter speed, ISO, etc. to know how to use all those little camera knobs. I prefer nature photography as mother nature won't complain if I take a bad picture :)

I look forward to meeting you."

Sincerely,
Tony Páramo
